This is a ministry to the carnival workers and is a cooperative effort between COM and the Shiloh Association of the Florida Baptist Convention. Churches in the Association provide food, clothing, and other items in support of the ministry. We give free coffee and doughnuts for breakfast and homemade soup, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips and cookies for lunch. We also have a clothes closet from which we give donated clothing items, bedding, and toiletries to the workers. Coffee and fruit drink is served from 7:00 AM until mid- to late afternoon. Each morning we have a short time of praise and worship and a devotional led by one of the local pastors or one of the COMers. We build relationships with the carnival workers and seek opportunities to witness to them about the Lord. In past years we have seen some saved and some re-dedicate their lives to the Lord.
We ask that the COMers arrive on site on Wednesday, February 19 so we can clean and set up the kitchen and the clothing closet. The local Association, Shiloh, arranges for us to camp right in with the carnival workers. In the past we have had spots for five couples to work, however we are working with the Shiloh Association to try to get an additional camping spot so we can expand our ministry. This ministry requires a lot of hard work, but there are many rewards as we build relationships with carnival workers. We also have an opportunity to enjoy some of that delicious Plant City strawberry short cake.
