Rallys 2008 Florida Campers on Mission Fall Rally: Region 7 will host the Fall Rally October 8-10, 2008 at Whispering Palms RV Resort, Sebastian, Indian Rivers Co. Florida. www.whisperingpalmsrv.com Early Bird camping available Monday & Tuesday, October 6th and 7th. Directions: From I-95, take exit 156, take SR 512 East to US 1, turn right on US 1 South, go 1.5 miles to Whispering Palms on right side of road. Fairs and Festivals Project: North Florida Fair-Tallahassee, Florida The 2008 North Florida Fair begins Thursday, Nov. 6 and ends Sunday, Nov. 16. Volunteers need to arrive Wednesday Nov. 5th to attend orientation on Thursday morning. There are 30 RV sites for volunteers. Each site has water and electricity. A dump station is available. Work includes: Taking tickets ant the gate and greeting attendees, hosting in the exhibit buildings by greeting people, Mission booths include: face painting, balloon animals, salvation bracelets, Christian Puzzles and Bible questions board. The fair opens at 5 PM on weekdays and 12 Noon on Sat, Sun and Veteran’s Day. There is time for fellowship and eating out. Contact Jane Raker at 850-926-3023. Cell phone is 850-294-7448.
Construction Projects
Project: Living Stone Community Church, 304 Old Nashville Dirt Road, Shelbyville, TN. Help is much needed at this time. They are in the framing process. Project: Tacachale Hope Chapel, 1621 NE Waldo Road, Gainesville, FL 32609, Phone # 352-955-5752 or email tacahopechapel@yahoo.com. Linda Ballard, Chaplian. Tacachale has been a state supported residential facility for persons with developmental disabilities since 1921.Needs are: Pulling weeds in the Chapel area, cleaning pews, care of fish ponds and fountains and general cleaning. Special projects are: Construction of cover driveway and cover over Prayer Garden, Decorating the Bible sidewalk in Memorial Garden and Landscaping. Projects can be conducted at any time. Free housing and or hookups may be available. Project: Lemoyne Blvd. Baptist Church, Biloxi, MS Lemoyne Blvd. Baptist has an on going project that will probably last for years. They are now building new homes for people that were completely wiped out by Hurricane Katrina. They now have several houses in progress and plan to start more. They have 10 RV sites and bunking facilities. They serve breakfast and lunch for the volunteers each work day. People with various skills are needed. Project: Indian Creek Baptist Church near Middlebourne, West Virginia, Steelite building, 60’ x 250’, Roof peak 21’ at tallest, The pad will be poured in April and they hope to have the outside walls completed by 3rd week in June. Kitchen and bathrooms available in old building. Campground nearby. No sewerage but grey water disposal. Has a dump station, Cost $15.00 per day/ $200.00 per month, 30 Amp hook ups. Project: Fleming Island Baptist Church, 1871 CR 220, Orange Park, FL 32003 Pastor: Tim Folds, Church Tel. 904-703-0812, Pastor’s Cell Phone: 904-703-0812 Church Web Site: www.fibcfamily.com 19,000 Sq. Ft. Bldg-Roof and sides are on -bldg. is steel frame with metal roof. Church will provide one meal per day, RV Hook-ups 3 or 4, will put in more if needed. In January 2008 they will need volunteers in many areas including: electrical, drywall finishing, tile laying and outside landscaping. Project: Baptist College of Florida, located in Graceville Florida, exit 120 off of Interstate 10 has an ongoing project of renovating married students housing. Contact Dr. Hammack at 1-800-326-2660 or 1-850-263-3261 ext 465 for further information. Project: Camp Whispering Pines, Baptist, 30 Unit Motel damaged by hurricane Katrina. Location: Citronelle, AL, take I-65 exit 15. Hurricane Katrina damaged every roof, knocked down dozens of trees, damaged the chapel and destroyed the hotel and nurses station. They are rebuilding a 32 room 2 story facility. Go to www.campwhisperingpines.com for pictures. The chapel is in need of repair and they are building a new 100’ x 60’ metal building. Siding is being installed on weekends by volunteers. They have 8 to 10 RV hook ups with sewerage and can provide 12 more with out sewerage. They can provide one meal per day. Contact Beverly David or Matt Brown at 251-866-7868. Project. Cornerstone Baptist Church, Fort White, Florida. They will begin laying block (approximately 3000) in January 2008. Plans are to finish the blocks in January and will then need: electricians, carpenters, sheet rock hangers and finishers. Pastor is Marc Pargo. Project: Oceanside Community Chruch, Satelite Beach, Florida needs drywall finishers. Contact Duke King at 321-626-0917. Campground, Port & Student Summer Ministries Project: Hi, My husband and I are camp directors at LaVerne Griffin Youth Recreation Camp in Wasilla, Alaska. Project: SWARM—Southwest Area Resort Ministries located in Bryson City, NC needs help between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Volunteers work at various locations in the area escorting youth groups that come to the area to Campgrounds, Nursing Homes, Senior Centers and Churches to entertain, sing or lead in singing, conduct devotionals etc. When youth groups are not available COM members conduct the activities. On occasions small construction jobs or maintenance is performed. Your own vehicle is require for transportation.
